About Bateman’s Garden

Bateman’s Garden is set in 300 acres of classic High Weald countryside with views across the Dudwell Valley.

The gardens cover 12 acres and include features like the Orchard, Mulberry Garden, Front Garden, Quaterdeck, Lily Pond and the Wild Garden.

Park Mill is an 18th Century working water mill and the house is 17th Century and of course the home of Rudyard Kipling.

In our view while the house tells Kipling’s story the gardens let you experience it.

What do you think?

There is a natural play area with slides, swings and see-saw and a picnic area.

You will find refreshments in the Tea Room run by Mulberry Garden and there is a second hand bookshop.

The Oast House shop sells homewares, gifts, plants and Kilpling’s books so you can bone up on his works.

After all “There is no sin so great as ignorance”!

Watch out for events during the year like the Easter Egg Hunt, Craft Making, Storytelling and music concerts.
