About Calke Abbey & Gardens
Calke Abbey & Gardens are set in 600 acres of parkland, deer park and includes the famous oak tree the 1,200-year-old ‘Old Man of Calke’.
Some key features include a rare auricula theatre, domed orangery, faded glasshouses and gardener’s bothy.
There is a preserved stable yard, Church and of curse the house which is a Baroque-style mansion.
As well as the gardens there is a shop, bookshop, plant shop, restaurant, cafe and a take away kiosk.
The parklands are open for exploring with many trails to walk and wildlife to spot.
For Children there is the natural play ground at Calke Explore and the playground in the Stableyards is a short walk from the main car park.
Dogs on short leads are welcomed all of the year
And at Christmas they have the Christmas ‘Illuminate’ where the gardens, trees, house, gothic arch are all bathed in light.
Snacks and mulled wine served in the tea room!
