About the Chatsworth Sculpture Garden

This information is just a snapshot to get you intrigued – best to visit the website for full details!

Set in over 100 acres of land the Chatsworth Sculpture Garden was one which I visited a few years ago but I have to say it was highly enjoyable.

I may have even learned something!

I loved how there were so many sculptures, some in unexpected places and some in unusual styles.

It was interesting to see how the modern art styles fitted in so well with the rather formal landscape.

There are lots of little sub gardens as well which makes for super interesting viewing.

There are ever evolving sculptural displays and trails to follow and don’t forget to check out the spectacular water features which operate from 10.30am until 4.15pm.

There is a lot to see so I would allow a couple of hours to get around.

Maybe take a picnic?

Personally I found the gardens more interesting than the house. But each to their own.

Dogs on lead are very welcome in the gardens!

Reviews of the Chatsworth Sculpture Garden

Google Reviews 4.7/5 stars

Chatsworth Sculpture Garden gets some rave reviews with an overall sentiment of approval and appreciation.

A couple of quotes to give you an idea are ‘Truly a Horticultural Gem‘ and ‘The most beautiful house and gardens, lovingly looked after by friendly staff. And the gardens are as close to Eden as you can get. Fantastic views and plenty to see‘.

I like this review which rings true ‘So full of amazing things to see and do‘.

The staff are also praised for being helpful and friendly.

” As one of the most iconic places for horticultural excellences in Britain, the Chatsworth Gardens are a testament to the incredible passion for gardening, spanning across over five centuries.”

Eating & Drinking

I had a cracking ice cream when I was there! A kiosk was just by the entrance but it was a few years ago.

There are a number of restaurants, including the Carriage House Cafe, The Cavendish Restaurant, The Parlour and The Farm Shop Cafe.

Be aware the ‘food to go’ outlets may close during extreme weather.

There is a dedicated picnic area to the north west by the Farmyard area although no bbqs are allowed.

Accessibility

There has been a lot of thought put into accessibility by the Chatsworth Estate.

I would recommend clicking here and reading their information and downloading this excellent pdf guide and map

Generally there are dedicated Blue Badge parking and a lot of the garden areas are suitable for manual wheelchairs and electric scooters.

But wet weather and some steeper terrain may make seeing all of the gardens difficult.

Toilets

There are toilet facilities (including baby changing and accessible) by the entrance and by the Stables, Shops, Farmyard and Playground.
