About Cliveden Gardens

This information is just a snapshot – visit the website for full details & latest news

Cliveden Gardens are set in an 80 acre estate on the river Thames in Buckinghamshire.

The house, now a hotel, was formally the home of the Astors and while you can visit access is somewhat limited.

Check out their resting place in the rather ornate chapel.

Within the grounds there are many things to do such as visiting the ponds, gardens such as the walled garden and Japanese inspired water garden.

The famous Cliveden Maze is well worth a visit and there is the fabulous option of lazing by the river or going for a walk through the many varied woodlands trails.

Your choice!

Shop

The shop is situated in the walled garden car park where you can pick up gifts, plants, books and toys.

It’s also very well stocked if you are planning a picnic and need rugs, coffee cups water bottles!

Eating at Cliveden

There are many options of eating at Cliveden including the main The Conservatory Café for light to hearty meals.

Dotted throughout the grounds are various food outlets and kiosks so you are unlikely to go hungry or thirsty! Watch out for the ice creams from Jude’s cart during boating season.

You are also welcome to bring your picnic. Just make sure you clean up after yourselves!

Disabled Access

The formal gardens are accessible on a level path. The estate is large so there are steps and paths without handrails; particularly down towards the river.

There are benches placed throughout the formal gardens to rest up or just take in the views.

Check the Accessibility page for updated information

Toilets

There are toilet facilities available including disabled access.
