About the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park was established in 1995 and is now home to more than 300 sculptures on its 158 acre plot.
There are world renowned sculptures from artists such as Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Barbera Hepworth and Ai Weiwei.
I was pleased to see a ‘spider’ work by Louise Bourgeois (photo below) having seen her installation in The Tate Modern in London.
The gardens themselves are actually a number of individual gardens like the Richard & Helen DeVos Japanese Garden and the acre Tassell-Wisner-Bottrall English Perennial Garden with its super diverse planting.
There is a Farm Garden and the Lena Meijer Children’s Garden allows children hand on play to learn about sculpture.
And always interesting is the only publicly displayed Kenneth E. Nelson Carnivorous Plant House.
Do allow time to check out the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory, Earl & Donnalee Holton Victorian Garden Parlor and also the Arid Garden.
There are many facilities for you in the gardens including DeVos-Keeler Gift Shop for unique gifts and the James & Shirley Balk Café for locally sourced sandwiches, snacks, tea, coffee and craft beers.
Only properly identified service animals are allowed in the Park.
Best Time to Visit the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park
The best time for you to visit the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is between Summer and Autumn for the concert series held in the Amphitheater.

They are always changing this up or adding more, but also keep staples around for continuous enjoyment.”
