About Gibside Garden

Gibside Garden is a Georgia landscape garden with woodland, orangery (ruins), walled garden and plenty to see throughout the year.

From the snowdrops and crocus in early spring to the bluebells, cowslips, wild orchids and garlic in late sporing/early summer.

The walled garden is full of fruit and veg and watch out for poppies and globe thistles.

During autumn there will be an abundance of squash, carrots, beetroots and parsnips.

And winter bring mistletoe, berries and fungi.

A new development in the walled garden is The Spiral Galaxy telling the story of Mary Eleanor.

There are four waymarked trails for those wanting to explore the grounds where wildlife spotting is a must.

Look out for badgers, otters, red kites, bats, bugs and lots of amphibious activity in the ponds.

For the kids there is the Red Kite adventure play area including den building.

There are plenty of facilities including refreshments from the Cafe, the Gibside Pizza Pit is open some weekends and school holidays and a kiosk.

And of course there is a second hand bookshop!

Finally do take in the Palladian-style chapel and Hall ruins.
