About Goddards Garden

Goddards Garden is set in the five acre grounds of the Arts & Crafts style house close to York racecourse.

As was the Arts & Crafts style the garden is split into individual ‘rooms’.

These range from a formal terrace with a pond, herbaceous borders, orchard, fragrant garden, vegetable garden, bowling green, wildlife pond and a glasshouse.

Despite its more urban location there is an abundance of wildlife including 30 species of birds, butterflies, newts, frogs and dragonflies.

And keep your eye open for the statutes now being returned to the gardens after many years being dispersed elsewhere.

There is a kiosk serving drinks and snacks, cards only, and a second hand bookshop.

Dogs are allowed in the gardens on shorts leads apart from the Kitchen Garden.

Parts of the house are occasionally open for visitors.
