About Hartland Abbey Gardens
Hartland Abbey Gardens benefit from a milder climate so there are often flowers in bloom right from the gardens first yearly opening.
There are walled gardens, wildflowers, woodland gardens, a bog garden, glass houses which grow fruit and vegetables for the house and for sale.
Plants include acers, fern, hydrangeas, eucryphia, camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias.
For the children there is a Nature Trail leaflet to follow and colour in, with puzzles and fun.
And of course it is the location of the CBBC TV series Malory Towers!
The woodland walks take you to the coast and a beach and there is an abundance of wildlife to spot such as the Roe deer, foxes, badgers, buzzards and peregrine falcons. And some spectacular views over to Lundy Island.
Refreshments can be found in The ‘Old Kitchen’ Tea Rooms with specials on offer and Devon cream teas all round!
Dogs are allowed in the gardens on leads please.

Don’t take our word for how super these gardens are. Here is what visitors to Hartland Abbey Gardens had to say:
“Well worth the mile there and back walk to the beach. It’s STUNNING.
Take drinks and swim stuff with you if the weather allows. You’ll want to spend time there.”
“A simply delightful place, beautiful, enjoyed our day there immensely. Nice long walk to the beach”
“It’s very dog friendly and you could take them into most places apart from the house.
We visited the walled garden, shrubbery, the history and filming display and the walk to the Summer House and beach”
