About Henry Moore Studios & Gardens

This information is just a snapshot to get you intrigued – best to visit the website for full details!

The Henry Moore Studios & Gardens covers 70 acres and was where he moved to in 1940.

Over the years he transformed the farmland into the gardens, fields and woodland you see today.

What is great about these garden sis that you are actively encouraged to touch and feel the sculptures. (But not the ones inside the house!)

Be aware that a lot of the sculptures are accessible only across grass and gravel paths so bring the right footwear.

Around 20 sculptures are shown outside each year with many more inside the studios.

Speaking of which check out the various studios he used for creating his models, plasters, drawings and prints.

And have a look around the 16th century barn he had reconstructed which holds his tapestries, which I really love!

Beautiful gardens, knowledgeable staff, cafe food is good, plenty of benches, good for children, touch & feel the sculptures

“What a joy to visit, in every aspect; art, nature, exhibition and history, food and drink, helpful staff and volunteers … wonderful!”

Eating & Drinking

The Rosy Lee Cafe is open Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holidays, serving from 11:00 until 16:45 and offers food and drinks.
Bring picnics but do not eat within the actual sculpture park area.

Accessibility

As for the most part this is an outdoor venue with grasslands and gravel footpaths navigating the gardens can be tricky.

Powered mobility scooters are recommended and you can use your own or those provided.

Some of the studios and galleries are a bit of a walk from the gardens and have steps and are quite narrow.

Best bet is to be prepared and you may not get easy access to every part of the grounds.

Outdoor seats are provided and folding stools are available in the gallery.

Toilets

There are individual toilets complete with loo, sink, dryer at the park including ones with baby changing facilities..

Parking

There are car parks with accessible bays and the nearest car park to the Visitor Centre is the Archive car park.

Dogs

All assistance dogs are allowed and must be badged. No pets dogs allowed.
