About Melford Hall Garden

Melford Hall Garden is home to the fabulous crinkle-crankle wall which had to be rebuilt in 1987.

You will find this in the West Garden where there are specimen trees like the Judas Tree and Oriental Plane as well as herbaceous borders.

Lady Ulla’s pond is being renovated and you can’t miss the Banqueting Hall.

‘Lord Somerset’s Residence’ is actually a quiet woodland packed with wildlife and the North Garden is an ideal place for a cup of tea and take in the views.

The wider Park is open to be explored with some smashing views but keep your dog on a lead as there is grazing livestock.

The Hall is open to visitors and there are monthly guided tours.

Rooms to see include the Great Hall, Dining Room, Drawing Room, Boudoir, Gallery, Library and Bedrooms including one where where Beatrix Potter stayed!

As well as the Hall and Garden there is a Tea Room serving hot & cold drinks, lunches and cream teas.

There is also a second hand bookshop – it is the National Trust after all!

Accessibility at Melford Hall

Blue Badge parking and drop-off available. Accessible toilet. Ground floor of the house and parts of the garden accessible. Full details here.

Dogs at Melford Hall

Assistance dogs only in the house and formal garden but all dogs ok in the park, bookshop and outdoor tearoom.
