Pencarrow House & Gardens describe themselves as family friendly – which is nice! Kids go free as you probably have seen!
There are short and long circular walks and in February there are special open snowdrop days.
Look out for bluebells, wild garlic (love the smell!), an Iron Age hill fort, a sunken Italian Garden with a fountain, grotto, ice house and a palm house – crikey!
The Peacock Cafe is ideal for topping up after a walk around the gardens. From jacket potatoes with many fillings to soup, quiche, ploughman’s lunch and of course a Cornish Pasty or two.
There is also a gift and plant shop you can pop into for a bit of retail therapy!
Dogs are allowed in the gardens but keep on lead as there are peacocks and chickens running around!
Dogs are allowed off the lead in the rest of the grounds but not in the shops or cafe unless assistance dogs.

“The gardens are also very much worth a visit and we loved the lake and watercourses running down from it towards the house.
The Peacock Cafe alongside the house was great for lunch and serves hot and cold drinks, cakes, ice cream, soups, quiche, jacket potatoes etc.
All very well done and good value.”
“Beautifully kept gardens. Peacock cafe aptly named! Tranquil walk to serene lake.
Exciting to drive though an Iron Age fort down the long drive. Some really old majestic trees.”
