About Traquair House, Garden & Woodland
Traquair House, Garden & Woodland is set a few miles south of Edinburgh in the picteresque Scottish Borders in 100 acres of woodlands both ancient and modern.
There are plenty of woodland trails that willl take you past Quair Water and on to the River Tweed.
The Old Walled Garden still has some apple trees, borders, pond and fountain.
And next to it is Cupid Garden with its grey and white planting and a Croquet Lawn – sets available on request.
In 1981 a superb hedge maze was planted and there are some great viewing spots on the terrace walls for parents to try and help children out – if needed!
And just for children there is a play area and one for toddlers too.
There is abundant wildlife with otters, deer and small mammals.
And peacocks, ducks, rare breed poultry and pigs to see.
The Old Walled Cafe is open to visitors who have paid entry for the grounds and is open 7 Days serving lunches, coffees, and home baking – yummy scrummy!
And there is a Gift Shop & Craft Workshops and a Brewery shop & Museum – phew. Better make a full day of it!
You can tour the house if you choose with 19 rooms available to see.
Dogs policy at Traquair House, Garden & Woodland
Dogs are allowed in most places on a lead. Just not allowed in the house or courtyard.
