About Winkworth Arboretum

Created in the early 20th Century by Dr. Wilfred Fox Winkworth Arboretum is set in the AONB with 121 acres ready to explore.

Planted so there is plenty to see, 1,000 different species of trees and shrubs, at any time of the year from Magnolia and Bluebells in Spring to the Autumnal colours of the trees.

There are three main waymarked trails to follow and during the warmer months picnics are a good idea.

Wander through the ancient woodlands to the lake and boat house.

There is a children’s play area made of wood with climbing wall, rope tunnels, a web walk and ladders.

As well as the arboretum you can get hot and cold refreshments and lunches from the Arbor tearoom.

There are guided walks and events such as the Easter Egg Hunt!
