About Ardmaddy Gardens

Ardmaddy Gardens are set in the centre of a horseshoe bay allowing protection from the blustery winds.

There are many highlights in the gardens to see such as the well known and highly respected Walled Garden.

It is home to a Rhododendron collection, fruit and vegetables and surrounded by dwarf box hedges.

The walled garden leads to the Woodland and Water Garden. And watch out for Red Squirrels climbing the trees!

The garden is constantly evolving so expect to see developments in the Fernery, Clock Garden with cut flowers, Medicinal Herb Beds, Alpine Garden and an Arboretum.

Depending on the time of year that you visit expect to see Snowdrops, Bluebells, Wild Garlic (well, smell them!), Primroses and Rhododendrons.

Wildlife is bountiful across the Estate with golden and sea eagles, red squirrels, red and roe deer, pine martens, sea otters, skylarks and curlews and house martins and swallows.

Plants are available to purchase and private garden tours can be arranged.

Don’t take our word for how super these gardens are. Here is what visitors to Ardmaddy Gardens had to say:

“This is a beautiful garden – very peaceful with a great walk along the walled garden and also some woodland walks.

There are benches here and there to sit and enjoy the scenery. Dogs on leads are very welcome, too.

“Absolutely stunning garden. Well worth a visit. Peaceful area. Welcoming staff.

Myself and Ted my dog had a lovely time there and woodland walk.

Benches in garden if you want to sit a while.”

“This is a lovely garden and forest walks in a very isolated and quiet location.

At first it looks like just a long walled garden, but there are further gardens along the stream to explore.

It’s well worth doing the forest walks, as the view is amazing.”
