Ideas on how to get more visitors to your open garden!
We were asked by someone as to how they could further publicise their open garden event?
A good question!
So here are a few ideas you may find useful to help you attract more visitors to your open gardens.
Advertise in local magazines and newsletters
We find this works really well and if you do it for a couple of months out you sometimes get new gardens wanting to join!
Always be aware of publication dates as you often need to get copy a mont ahead of the actual printing and distribution.
Put up Flyers
You would be surprised how far people will travel for a good open garden event.
By placing flyers in shops, post offices, libraries, local businesses you get a lot of exposure to a wider audience.
And don’t forget to add to local, and not so local, village hall notice boards.

Event Sponsors link
If you have companies sponsoring your event make sure they link back to details from their website to your own Website, Facebook page or Super Gardens listing if you don’t have an online presence.
Forums or Chat Groups
Ask your gardeners if they are in any gardening forums or chat groups.
Again its an opportunity to let people know about your event and to link through to more information as above.
Press Releases
It’s worth contacting your local press to let them know about your event.
Make their life easy by giving them all the information and supplying a high quality image.
Also, some local radio stations will let you advertise for free so do contact them.
Banners & Placards
A month or so ahead of your event have a banner made to go outside your village hall so passing traffic, foot and car, know all about it.
You can also place placards on the entrances to your village or area.
Keep the information brief, Date, Time, Cost, Number of Gardens, Key Attractions etc
Too much information get lost as people are passing!
You may need to get permission to place placards so check first!
