About Burton Open Gardens
Discover 14 beautiful private gardens across the Huddersfield villages of Highburton and Kirkburton, each offering its own unique style, planting and inspiration.
Enjoy a leisurely day exploring colourful borders, productive gardens and stunning countryside views, while meeting passionate local gardeners.
The event also features live music from local musicians, homemade cakes and refreshments, and a warm community atmosphere.
Family and dog friendly, Burton Open Gardens is a wonderful opportunity to spend a summer day enjoying gardens, refreshments and village hospitality.
Burton Open Gardens is a volunteer-led community event that raises funds for charitable causes including The Kirkwood, the British Red Cross, the Ukraine Crisis Appeal and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Participating gardens also support additional charities through refreshments, plant sales and other fundraising activities, helping the event make a positive impact both locally and beyond.
A selection of plants will be available for sale at participating gardens.
These include plants grown and propagated by local gardeners, along with surplus plants from their own collections.
Plant availability varies from garden to garden.
Toilet facilities are available at a number of locations throughout the event, including The Smiths Arms, Forge Cottage, 18–20 Hall Lane, The Urban Kitchen, Joy’s Coffee House, The Secret Garden, Box Tree Cottage, Thorncliffe Social Club, The Junk and 46 Storthes Hall Lane.
