Visitor Information for Clyne Gardens
Clyne Gardens is located on the Gower Peninsula, about 3 miles south of Swansea and 2 miles north of Mumble and is open all year round.
Covering about 50 acres the botanical gardens has a nationally renowned collection of Rhododendrons and Azaleas as well as ten thousand mature tress and two thousand species of plants.
Created by William Graham Vivian in 1860 it was really his nephew Algernon who is responsible for much of the garden we see today.
Speaking of Algernon, he was also created the dogs graves you will find by the St Catwg’s Walk entrance.
Plants to watch out for include the Magnolia Campbelli, at 22m/72ft the tallest recorded magnolia in Britain and the UK’s largest-girthed cherry crab, Malus x Robusta. Impressive!
Key landscape features include the distinctive red Japanese Bridge, Italian Bridge, Admiral’s Tower, Joy Cottage and a smashing Gazebo.
Taking any of the various routes through the gardens you will find a bluebell wood, pond, waterfalls, a wildflower meadow and a bog garden.
Get a map of the gardens here which includes the newly restored Tree Trail and shows key locations for you to visit.
Now I couldn’t leave out the super important refreshments you can get from the excellent Touring Tearoom, a converted caravan providing cakes, tea coffee and all manner of foodie goodies! We are talking brownies, muffins and doughnuts!
Keep an eye open for events like the fungi festival.
