See the Walled & Kitchen Garden!
Located about a mile from Barking Rail and Tube Station, Eastbury Manor House is an Elizabethan gentry house with a walled kitchen garden and sumptuous lawns. Look out for the bee boles, once used to encourage bees to stay. The kitchen garden grew plants for medicinal purposes, cooking, dyeing and strewing. The Eastbury Kitchen Café serves seasonal, homegrown food and drink, cakes and treats.
My top tip: The Café is highly rated – just saying!

Eastbury Manor House is a National Trust owned property which is now managed by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
Located about a mile from Barking Rail and Tube Station it is an Elizabethan Gentry House with a walled kitchen garden and sumptuous lawns.
The Walled Garden is a favourite feature for many who visit the gardens. Keep an eye out for the bee boles which is where skeps, coils of straw, were placed to encourage bees to stay.
The Kitchen Garden was originally used to grow crops used for medicinal purposes, eating, dyeing, and strewing, which is where herbs were scattered on the straw floors to mask smells and prevent ticks and fleas!

There are many events taking place throughout the year including a Halloween Trail, Christmas Wreath Workshop, Cooking Masterclasses and Theatrical Performances.
You can also hire out Eastbury Manor House as a Wedding Venue, either for a Civil Ceremony of full Wedding event, or as Conference, Meeting and Events facility.
