About Gatton Park

Gatton Park is a Capability Brown designed parkland and is partially owned by The Royal Alexandra and Albert School and National Trust.

Recommended for families!

There are few key features to look out for when visiting:

Parterre – a formal garden with a cross shaped path

Pleasure Gardens – includes The Wild Things Play Trail which encourages children to climb, scramble and build dens.

Japanese Garden – restored in 1999 it includes a thatched Minka-style tea house, granite lanterns and an oriental bridge.

Rock Garden – featuring an amazing display of snowdrops each February!

Old World Rose Garden – currently being restored to its former glory.

Refreshments – available on open days you have coffee, tea and cakes.

The National Trust owns ‘Gatton Park in our Past and Present’ walk which is open all year round.

Dogs are allowed in the gardens on leads.

“Main feature is the lake which is a easy stroll and lots of wildlife to be seen, several small gardens also including a Japanese garden.

Toilets on site and cafe with moorish Carrot cake.

We followed the map around the lake and then back up to the house for tea and cake.

Lovely place check website for opening days and book in advance.

Take a picnic , kids n dogs”
