A Quirky Family Adventure!
Shefford, Bedfordshire, is home to Hoo Hill Maze, a 30-metre-square maze planted with 1,000 golden Leylandii. Created in 1983 and extended in 1993, its two metre high hedges provide a fun challenge for families.
Set within a private orchard, visitors can enjoy creative planting, play areas and picnics.
Toilets and parking are available, while the venue also hosts private events.
My top tip: Bring a picnic as a reward for getting to the centre!

Visitor Information for Hoo Hill Maze
Hoo Hill Maze is situated less than a mile from the centre of Shefford and is about 30 meters sqaure – so plenty of opportunity to get lost!
Planted in 1983 using 1,000 golden Leylandii and extended in 1993 the maze is 2 meters high, about 6 feet, so no cheating if you are tall.
The surface of the path is gravel so generally suitable for all weathers.
The maze is actually set in a privately owned orchard where you will find space for playing or just appreciating the ever changing creative planting.
There are no refreshments on site but do bring a picnic and enjoy the scenery.
There are toilets however and car parking as well.
The good news is that the maze and gardens are available to hire for private parties, weddings and events like birthday parties, Halloween nights, Easter Egg hunts and Fancy Dress Parties.
Accessibility at Hoo Hill Maze
Due to the terrain there is no wheelchair access & rain can cause very muddy conditions across the site. Part of the maze narrows preventing access for pushchairs. At least if you go down that way!
Dogs at Hoo Hill Maze
No dogs are allowed on site, sorry!
