About Ickworth Estate Gardens

Ickworth Estate Gardens is a classic Italianate garden which encircles the Rotunda and don’t forget to check out the daffodils!

There is also a large stumpery which I really like which was created when digging for victory in World War 2.

There is plenty to see and do beside the gardens with the Rotunda Museum and its art and silver collection, Parkland to explore, shops, cafe, restaurant, bookshop, picnic areas and a plant shop – phew!

When it’s wet the kids can be entertained indoors in the child-friendly basement in the historic house with games.

There are lots of walks and trails to take as well as cycle routes.

The walled garden and canal circular is a particular favourite, about 2 miles or 3km long.

Dogs are allowed in the Parkland grounds only and on a lead.

Assistance dogs are allowed everywhere of course!

At Christmas time watch out for the ‘Ickworth’s Light Nights’ with illuminations lit trails and shows for the children.

Don’t take our word for how super these gardens are. Here is what visitors to Ickworth Estate Gardens had to say:

“The grounds are extensive, a pretty Italian garden, stumpery which was very on theme for Halloween, the parkland, church and walled garden.”

“Beautiful gardens with a great circular walk.”

“My children have been on many of the trails over the years and crafts in the large hall on the top floor of the hall (used to be the badminton court?). It also has a playground.”

“Plan to spend half the day there to make sure you can explore the vast grounds as well as the house”
