About St Paul’s Walden Bury
St Paul’s Walden Bury was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and covers 50 acres.
Created in 1720 it has been the family home of the Bowes-Lyon’s since then.
So expect to see mature planting including woodlands, ponds, avenues in the classic patte d’oie (goose foot) design.
The best time of the year to visit is probably in June for the Orchids but Snowdrops, Daffodils and Cowslips are on show in February and Rhododendrons, Magnolias and Azaleas are in bloom in April and May.
Autumn brings vivid colours in the woodlands.
There are also a good number of statues and temples for you to see as you wander through the grounds.
And watch out for the hidden glades and theatre!
