About Chartwell Garden

Chartwell was the family home to Winston Churchill and contains personal belongings presented as is family would recognise.

There is the Rose Garden which was designed by Lady Churchill and has smashing views over the estate and local countryside.

The Walled Kitchen Garden was built by Churchill himself and is surrounded by an Apple Orchard and Wildflower Meadow.

Other features include the swimming pool, now home to wildlife, and the The Golden Rose Avenue.

The Garden is enclosed by a wider woodland and lake which is ideal for following the marked trails.

There is a Play Area for children including a tree house, bomb crater and camp.

As well as the garden there is The Studio, which is the largest collection of Winston Churchill paintings.

The Landemare Café offers light lunches as well as teas, coffees, cakes and ice cream in summer.

The Shop has local plants, gifts and souvenirs for sale.

And being the National Trust there is a second hand bookshop!

Visitor Reviews of Chartwell Garden

Google Visitor Review Score 4.7 stars

Don’t take our word for how genuinely super these gardens are. Here is what visitors to Chartwell Garden had to say:

“What an interesting place. Fabulous gardens.”

“The grounds are beautifully maintained, with scenic paths, gardens, and ponds all around.

If the weather is good, don’t miss a stroll through the woods beyond the ponds – the tree house there is a highlight, and yes, even adults can fit inside! ;)”

“he gardens and grounds are extensive and were lovely even on a rather dull autumn day. In summer they must be ablaze with colour.”
