About The Firs

‘The Firs’ is the birthplace of Sir Edward Elgar, famous for many compositions including the Enigma Variations and Pomp and Circumstance.

Set in the Malvern Hills this is a small family home where you can find out all about Elgar and enjoy events celebrating his work.

The cottage garden at the Firs contains design elements from a painting of the garden a year before Elgar was born.

Some key features are the orchard with its many varieties of apples and pears, the sound garden with its wooden musical instruments to enable you to create your own music, the woodland area with its wildlife and and log seats and the old summerhouse and a sculpture of Elgar himself.

Little Al’s Kitchen is open Friday to Monday and you don’t need to pay admission to use it!

The soups, sandwiches and cakes with twist come highly recommended.

There is also a second hand bookshop which alos sells CD’s, records and, a nice touch this, scores.
