About The Garden House – an RHS Partner Garden
The Garden House has evolved over a number of years and is now overseen by the Fortescue Garden Trust charity.
It’s not really your typical display garden, a bit more interesting than that!
Set in 10 acres the garden have some distinctive areas to see and explore including the Summer Garden, Cottage Garden, Walled Garden, The Old Tennis Court, Jubilee Arboretum and Acer Glade.
Many of these are connected by the long walk – look out for the perennial planting (I’m a big fan of these!) and grasses at the start by the Summer Garden.
There are also some distinctive features to spot such as the romantic ruins of a spiral staircase and a thatched barn.
You will find delicious locally sourced food and drink at the Café with seating indoors and out.
You do need a garden ticket to use the Café.
Afternoon Teas need to be booked 48 hours in advance.
The Plant Centre has a good stock of plants including some more inusual varities. Free to enter.

Don’t take our word for how genuinely super these gardens are. Here is what visitors to The Garden House had to say:
“Absolutely phenomenally beautiful!! Can’t wait to go back. The colours of the hydrangeas were amazing, and the walled garden, well, wow !!”
“If you like pretty flowers spring and summer are the best time . Very much a plants man’s garden, the labelling is very good.
The cafe is well worth a visit, excellent range of cakes, good coffee, pasties, baked potatoes and enormous scones.
“Stunning gardens in June; wildflowers and naturalistic planting, beautiful trees, trails, and open spaces.
The walled garden was very pretty and it wasn’t too busy when we went.”
