About Thornton Open Gardens
Thornton has 20 open gardens for you to visit this year with a super variety of styles and sizes.
From terraces, works in progress, herbaceous borders to wildlife ponds, wilderness gardens and some with views of Thornton Viaduct.
Thornton is of course the birthplace of the Brontés and one garden of note is Kipping House where Elizabeth Firth, a friend of the Brontés, lived
The community run Sapgate Garden is open as are the Top Royd allotments and the gardens of the Bell Chapel where Patrick Bronte used to preach.
Refreshments are available in some of the gardens and in the village as well.
All proceeds from this years event go towards the Art For Children and Thornton in Bloom Children’s Project.
There are toilet facilities at this event.
