About Abbotsford House & Gardens

Abbotsford House & Gardens was of course home to Sir Walter Scott.

He designed the gardens you will see which comprises of three main outdoor rooms.

The Walled Garden, South Court and Morris Garden.

You will also discover the Pavilion and Furnace House which is a Gothic Glasshouse.

And the chapel is well worth a peek.

The grounds are open all year ready for you to explore.

For the kids, and you, take the sculpture trail at the Witch Corner.

There’s an activity book for the children to fill in.

And you will find the visitor centre a great source of information and of course shopping.

Refreshments are available at Ochiltree’s Café and the Sir Wattie’s Horse Box!
