About Acorn Bank Garden
Acorn Bank Garden is a super Walled Garden containing a medicinal herb garden, the largest housed by the National Trust, lily pond and herbaceous borders.
There is a Silent Space, these are definitely becoming more popular, which is located near the Quince tree and enclosed by 400 year old walls.
The orchard is home to 175 varities of apples – look out for the tasting sessions in Autumn!
If you take a walk in the wider Estate you will see a working water mill, a gypsum mine, if you can find it, and wildlife including red squirrels.
You can get refreshments at the Cafe every day apart from Tuesday.
And there is a second hand Bookshop in the house and a Plant Shop in the Courtyard with locally raised plants – donations accepted.
The house is partially closed with the grand entrance hall open to view.

Don’t take our word for how genuinely super these gardens are. Here is what visitors to Acorn Bank Garden had to say:
“This is a fabulously understated place to visit, an active mill in some beautiful scenery, some excellent walks and interesting history, lots of places to enjoy and reflect on the surrounding beautiful landscape.”
“There is lovely gardens and a great walk along to the watermill and gypsum mine.”
“Wonderful place to spend a few hours, lots of nice walks through the forest area and around the well kept grounds, plus a good tearoom and of course the nice book room where most of us come out with more than we went in with.”
