About Alfriston Clergy House & Garden
Alfriston Clergy House was the first house rescued by the National Trust in 1896!
Built for the priest of St Andrews church it is a 15th-century Wealden hall-house.
The garden is inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement with their typical garden rooms it has super views over the Cuckmere Valley.
Featured rooms include the Italian Garden, Sunken Garden, Vegetable Garden and the Orchard.
There are roses aplenty and some lovely topiary yew hedges.
There is a small second hand bookstore in the Garden/Exhibition room.
Watch out for events such as painting, talks and guided walks.
