Nestled on the beautiful Isle of Bute, Ascog Hall Garden and Fernery is a stunning three-acre botanical garden overlooking the Clyde Estuary.
Restored in 1997, the gardens feature rare and exotic planting from Australasia, Asia and South America, alongside a beautifully restored Victorian fernery.
The fernery houses the UK’s oldest fern, a remarkable 1,000-year-old King Fern, beneath an elegant wrought iron and glass roof.
Visitors love the peaceful atmosphere, colourful displays, rare plant collections and the warm welcome from the knowledgeable owners

About Ascog Hall Garden and Fernery
Ascog Hall Garden and Fernery is a 3 acre garden on the Clyde Estuary on the smashing Isle of Bute.
Restored in 1997 the Fernery and Gardens now feature planting from Australasia, Asia and South America.
The Fernery is semi sunk and housed by a wrought iron and glass roof and contains the UK’s oldest fern the 1,00 year olf King Fern as well as many other rare species of fern.
Expect to see Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Poppies and Roses, among many others!
There are plants for sale in the old stables.
The house is not open to the public.
