Batsford Arboretum is set in 60 acres with 2,850 labelled specimens including about 1,300 different trees, shrubs and bamboo from around the world including the Japanese Maple.
They also house the UK’s first comprehensive bamboo collection.
The majority of reviews are very positive with most saying it takes about 2 hours top getaround but you could easily spend longer.

Amazing colours, plenty to see, lots of benches, long walks (good!), dogs welcome, cafe and garden centre good if a bit pricey
Cons
Can be busy at weekends and in Autumn, more tree signs, better maps
