Located around seven miles south east of Edinburgh, Dalkeith Country Park offers 1,000 acres of woodland walks, wildlife and family adventures. Explore Fort Douglas playground, tackle Go Ape’s treetop courses, enjoy riverside trails or relax at Soul Water Sauna. Restoration Yard adds shopping, dining and wellbeing activities, with seasonal markets and festive events throughout the year.

Visitor Information for Dalkeith Country Park
Dalkeith Country Park is a family friendly destination with lots of activities where you can ‘eat, shop and play’!
Located about 7 miles south eat of Edinburgh you will find Dalkeith Palace at the heart of the 1,000 acre Buccleuch estate home to exhibitions and events celebrating art, craftmanship and history.
There are a number of attractions for you to enjoy from the Fort Douglas Adventure Playground with zip lines, tunnels, tree houses all creating a great space for kids up to 12 years old.
Go Ape is geared up for older children and adults with high platforms and zip lines – ids need to be over 1m tall to use the facility.
Soul Water Sauna is tucked away in a filed on the banks of the River Esk and is a great way to soothe away your worries and reconnect with nature.
Speaking of which, within the 1,000 acre estate there are a number of marked trails ready for you to explore.
From a wilderness walk, woodland walk, river walk and hermitage walks theses vary in length from 2km to 8km.
Or just follow your nose and spot the year round nature and wildlife on show with bluebells, otters, bats, hedgehogs, orchids, deer and 900 year old trees!
Watch out for weekly events taking place at The Wellness Space such as Pilates and Yoga.
Refreshments are provided for you in the Restoration Yard, former stables, with The Kitchen providing locally sourced food including breakfasts and lunch, kids menus as well.
The Coffee Bar offers a quicker option with sandwiches, soups hot and cold drinks and cakes!
Also in the Restoration Yard you will find some super shopping experience at The Store with specially curated womenswear, menswear, homeware, beauty & wellbeing, children’s toys, games and clothes. Shop well!
You will find a number of events are held in the Park throughout the year from a Market every 3rd Saturday of the month, Halloween events, Christmas Winterfest including shopping, trees and a skating rink! And of course a Santa’s Grotto and breakfast!

Dogs at Dalkeith Country Park
Dogs are allowed off lead on large parts of the estate including trails. Dogs on leads allowed in some areas. No dogs are allowed in Fort Douglas or The Store & Kitchen. Some dog friendly seating areas in Coffee Bar / Larder.
