About Holehird Gardens
Holehird Gardens is a 10 acre fellside garden run by the Lakeland Horticultural Society.
It is is an award winning RHS Partner garden and comprises of a number of unique garden areas.
These includie the Walled Garden, Upper Garden, Lower Grden, Display House and Glasshouses.
Planting ensures there are points of interest throughout the year.
Spring sees Snowdrops, Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Camellias and Hellebores and the Rock Garden is at is best at this time of the year.
Summer is best for the Walled Garden with its Dahlias, Alpine and Herb beds.
Autumn brings the change in colours from Acers along the woodland walk and the Tulip Tree.
Winter is a good time to see the Witchhazel and Daphne bohlua ‘Jacqueline Postil’ by the walled garden.
Refreshments including hot and cold drinks are available at the Visitor Centre where you can also pay for any plants you choose from the plant sales area in the Walled Garden.
Accessability is possible in parts of the garden and Display House – there is a map showing all accessible areas.
