About Mirehouse Gardens
Mirehouse Gardens are in a beautiful location with views over to Bassenthwaite Lake.
A couple of key features include the Terraced Gardens with ample space to relax in and take in the roses, daffodils and sculptures and poems on display.
Poems as there are connections to Tennyson, Southey, Fitzgerald and Carlyle at the house!
The Heather Maze is perfect for the bees to get busy on and wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs.
Speaking of bees the Walled Garden is home to an actual Bee Garden which due to its enclosed nature is a few degrees warmer than other parts of the garden.
There is a Wildflower Meadow and look out for the Snuff Garden!
Plenty of prefect spots for a picnic.
The wider estate offers a number of walks, some family friendly others requiring sturdy boots!
Either way you get great views of the Lake District Landscape and Bassenthwaite Lake.
The Adventure Play Area is suitable for young and older kids including a Hazard Course, Steeple Chasing and Squirrel Island!
The Old Sawmill Tearoom is situated near the entrance to Mirehouse and offers refreshments to those passing. No tickets required.
The House is open on Wednesday aand Thursday afternoons to tours and you need to pay extra to the gardens to see this.
