About Pitmedden Garden

Pitmedden Garden, about 20 miles north of Aberdeen, is a smashing re-created Scottish Renaissance walled garden.

The Great Garden originally dates back to 1675 but has been restored since 1952 using documents from Holyrood House.

Known for its 4 miles of clipped hedging and 30,000 bedding plants providing stunning summer colours.

Other garden features include the Herb Garden and Orchard and sculptures including a fair few sundials – they were all the rage at one time!

For children there is a scavenger hunt in the walled garden and the nature hut in the woodland.

Refreshments are available in the Tearoom with light lunches, bakes as well tea and coffee.

Afternoon tea can be ordered but needs to be booked in advance.

The shop is open and sells gifts as well as local produce when in season.

The Museum of Farming Life boasts an extensive collection of domestic and agricultural artefacts showing what frming was lie in the early 1900’s.
