About Sissinghurst Castle Garden
Sissinghurst Castle Garden was the home to writerVita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson where they created a truely beautiful garden.
The garden is designed as a series of rooms, as was the fashion back in the 1930’s, and shows off the formal design by Harold and the planting style of Vita.
Highlights to watch out for are The White Garden, The Cottage Garden, The Purple Border, The Nuttery and a new addition Delos, a climate resilient Mediterranean Garden.
Roses are in abundance and there is planting throughout the year creating a colourful palatte whenever you visit!
The Vegetable Garden is now certified organic and in fact is a no dig garden as well.
The Tower was Vita’s writing room and has superb views over the 450 acre estate.
And the Library, known as The Big Room was used for enetertaining by Vita and Harold and is now home to exhibitions throuought the year.
There are lots of facilities at the gardens with a Cafe, Restaurant, Shop, Second Hand Bookshop and a Plant Shop.
