Visitor Information for Ballyrobert Gardens

Ballyrobert Gardens is located about 17 miles South East of Ballymena town and is a Nursery and Garden set in a six acre plot.

What sets this Royal Horticultural Society Partner Garden apart from others is that it is designed to blend into its woodland surroundings.

The garden is six acres and the woodland is about 10 acres and has over 4,000 varieties of plants which are actually labelled in the garden – so useful for novices and experts alike!

The gardens are used to trial and propagate plants you can buy in the Nursery and online. ps, their delivery costs are very good!

A number of features to look out for in the garden include the lucky fairy trees by the entrance, the Station Lawn, so called as there was a train station there once, and now home to the hole tree. It’s a tree with a hole.

The Cottage Garden is now mostly ornemental save the apple trees, blackberry bushes and you may also spot the some rare snowdrops.

The Glenlinchy Borders are a natural Glen with more snowdrops, wood anemones and bleubells – best seen in Autumn and Winter perhaps?

The Lakeside Garden is not surprisingly by a small lake with Azalea’s to the fore nd teh Orchard Garden is mostly ornamental.

The only formal area is the Formal Garden but even that is not seriously formal and the Rear Garden joins the cottage to the countryside and the wildlife like hares and foxes that you may see.

And the Woodland Garden has a natural path running through it so you can discover the Fairy Houses. Will they be at home? Ideal for the kids!

I particualry like the Wilding Area, like the name implies this is an area left a bit to its own devices to encourage wildlife like the elusive Woodcocks and Snipes.

You can get self service refreshments in the Nursery with tea and coffee available in the Tea Room.
