About Fyvie Castle & Garden
Fyvie Castle & Garden in the heart of Aberdeenshire is an 800 year old fortress with a stunning collection of portraits with works from Raeburn, Hopper and Gainsborough, among many others.
Fyvie Castle is packed full of interest in its many rooms including a death mask and antique armour.
And is also home to a resident ghost.
Fyvie has not one but two curses placed on it – the sealed medieval dungeon and the curse of the weeping stones!
The Castle has guided tours only Monday to Friday and some self guided tours at the weekend.
The garden is superb with the walled garden designed like the ceiling in the Castle’s dining room.
Products grown here are used in the tearoom and also for sale in the bothy when available.
The American garden is a nod to where Forbes-Leith made his money in steel.
You will also find lawns and ornamental drives which lead to the wider grounds, still owned by the Forbes-Leith family, former owners of the Castle, and you can explore the woodland and 18th Century man made lake which is a haven for wildlife. Can you post the toads and swifts?
There is a shop where you can buy gifts and The Butler’s Pantry for all your refreshments with outdoor seating for dogs if the weather is good.
Or take a picnic!
The raquet courts are open for bookings if that is your thing!
