About The Pineapple

You will find The Pineapple located 1 mile west of Airth and 7 miles east of Stirling.

While the Pineapple folly itself is not open you can admire it from the outside for its sheer eccentricity.

Built in 1761 as a summerhouse by the Earl of Dunmore so he could get a nice view of his estate. Pineapples were popular and exotic at the time.

The walled garden was originally designed to grow pineapples, not surprisingly, in the pineapplle pits as wellas other fruits and vegetables.

Nowadays there are flowers, borders, grass and an orchard.

There are a couple of easy shortish walks you can take to enjoy the woodlands and maybe spot some some newts and frogs in the former curling pond.

And you will be impressed by the Giant Redwood trees as well.

If the weather is fine, or you are just hardier than me, then take a picnic as there are some lovely spots to dine al fresco!

There is some free (NTfS members) parking opposite the site.
